Entrust to Address Attendees, Exhibit at ICAO Eighth Symposium and Exhibition on MRTDs, Biometrics and Security Standards
DALLAS, Oct. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - Leading identity-based security solutions provider Entrust, Inc. will exhibit and address attendees at the International Civil Aviation Organization's 8th Annual Symposium and Exhibition on MRTDs, Biometrics and Security Standards Oct. 10-12 at the ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
"ICAO serves as an invaluable proponent of innovative identity-based processes, standards and technology that help secure international travel and protect borders," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "This event is critical in the widespread adoption of respective travel policy and helps facilitate the necessary collaboration between the private sector and governments across the world."
Entrust's Mark Joynes, Director of Product Management for Entrust PKI, Government & National ID Solutions, will present a comprehensive description of the processes associated with electronic trust in eMRTD that are a function of public key infrastructure (PKI). The process by which international trust is intended to be established will be discussed, as well as how PKI mechanisms are employed to establish the veracity of eMRTD at border control.
Attended last year by more than 500 participants from states, international organizations, companies and other institutions, this year's event will address ICAO MRTD standards and specifications, identity management best practices and related border security issues, with a main focus on the humanitarian dimension.
A platinum sponsor of this year's event, Entrust has been a trusted advisor to many countries as they pursue ePassport and national ID projects. The technology is currently in production use in a number of countries issuing a high volume of ePassports, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Singapore, Denmark, Ireland, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, New Zealand and Finland.
A specialized agency of the United Nations, ICAO was created in 1944 to promote the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation throughout the world. It sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency and regularity, as well as for aviation environmental protection. The Organization serves as the forum for cooperation in all fields of civil aviation among its 191 Member States.
