Envol et Macadam festival - Roster Reflects 15 Years of Music & Passion
QUEBEC CITY, Aug. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - For the past 15 years, the city of Quebec has rocked to the rhythms of alternative music thanks to Envol et Macadam. The organizers of the Envol et Macadam festival are proud to mark this special anniversary by presenting an amazing and diversified roster of musicians. From September 9 to 11, dozens of musical artists from all over will be performing at the Parc de l'Îlot Fleurie, located under the Dufferin-Montmorency highway overpass.
Thursday, September 9 ---------------------
Fans will be thrilled to know that Millencolin, the evening's main attraction on the Tremblay stage, will be performing, among others, Pennybridge Pioneers in its entirety to emphasize the album's 10th anniversary of cult status. Opening acts are Against Me!, The Flatliners and Doinglife. Later that evening, on the Exo/Première Ovation stage, hardcore fills the air with performances by Cro-Mags, Quo Vadis, Black Bomb A and Cold North. To end the evening on a high note, Melissa Auf der Maur, former bassist with the Smashing Pumpkins and Courtney Love's past musical partner, will be rocking the Cercle stage.

The festival is happy to welcome Cake as it peforms for the very first time in Quebec city. The band is known, among other things, for its now-famous cover of I Will Survive. Music lovers are in for a treat as the Tremblay stage welcomes the rising stars of French folk-rock, The Dø. The duo's first album, A Mouthful, rose to the top of France's sales charts when it was released in 2008, a first for a French band singing in English. Black Taboo, The Planet Smashers and Punk Rock Karaoke will be performing under the big top.
Saturday, September 11 ----------------------
The festival will close with performances by Strung Out and Hatebreed as they warm up the crowd on the Tremblay stage for Mastodon, the new gods of modern metal. Meanwhile, the winners of ADISQ's best alternative album of 2009, Malajube, will take the stage after a lead-in by Mother Mother. Starting at 2:00 pm, festival fans will also get an opportunity to discover the 13 winners of the 2010 Battle of the Bands.

Battle of the Bands -------------------
The Battle of the Bands contest is back, but this time Quebec's best is set to conquer Europe. Bands battle it out on-stage during a special event at the Cercle next September 11. The winning band will represent Québec in a series of musical events in France and England. The bands readying for the battle are: The Aversions, 3D Kids and We love Danger.
