Ericsson to build A Global ICT Centre IN CANADA

TORONTO, June 3, 2013 /CNW/ - At the Canadian Telecom Summit, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) announced its plans to build a global ICT Centre in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec. The new approximately 40,000 Sqm facility will house the company's complete portfolio enabling the R&D organization to develop and verify solutions, creating the foundation for the next generation technology and cloud-based services. Canada's new state-of-the-art centre will be located close to two of Ericsson's main R&D hubs in Montreal and Ottawa and will be a new platform for its R&D engineers, supporting their lean and agile ways of working.

Ericsson's customers will also be able to connect remotely for interoperability testing, trials, and will have early access to innovation on new business services in real-time from their own locations. Mark Henderson, President, Ericsson Canada Inc., says: "It is a special day for us as we celebrate 60 years of doing business in Canada and at the same time we announce the plan to build this high-tech centre which will be an important foundation for our future innovation. The ICT Centre represents our commitment to the region and will contribute to building the ICT ecosystem and competence in Canada."

The North American ICT Centre will begin operations in early 2015.

Ericsson has more than 3,100 employees in Canada and works closely with more than 15 of the country's top universities and colleges to provide funding for R&D projects while granting students and researcher the opportunities to gain hands-on experience in Ericsson's facilities. In 2012, Ericsson invested more than $325 million in R&D in Canada and is one of the top ten R&D investors in the country.
