Ermitage Saint-Antoine can continue to expand its tourism site and enhance the visitor experience Français
Government of Canada awards nearly $1.5M to Ermitage Saint-Antoine in Lac-Bouchette, Lac-Saint-Jean
LAC-BOUCHETTE, QC, Sept. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - [Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)] - Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for economic diversification at the national and regional levels. The Government of Canada's investment in cultural and sports events is an effective way to support actions that generate substantial economic and media spinoff in the regions in which the events are held.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Denis Lemieux, Member of Parliament for Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, announced that Ermitage Saint-Antoine has been granted $1,443,770 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to enhance tourism in the region and make the site more attractive.
Founded in 1907 by Abbot Elzéar DeLamarre, Ermitage Saint-Antoine, is a privileged Franciscan sanctuary on a natural site that provides a peaceful oasis for all visitors who wish to experience a sense of renewal. This national sanctuary is located on the shores of Lake Ouiatchouan, in the Municipality of Lac-Bouchette. The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will help Ermitage Saint-Antoine design a multimedia show, build a projection room and modernize the visitor centre.
