ESG Solutions Poised for Continued Microseismic Growth, Welcoming Experts in Geophysics and Geomechanics
HOUSTON, Nov. 29, 2016 /CNW/ -- ESG Solutions, an industry leader in microseismic technology and services, is pleased to welcome the technical expertise of Eric von Lunen as Senior Advisor, Reservoir and Rock Mass Characterization and Dr. Doug Angus as Advisor, Geomechanics to provide support and leadership across all ESG business units. In addition, ESG welcomed Dr. Willem de Beer in August as Senior Manager for Australia. These changes demonstrate ESG's commitment to growth and reflect a continued investment in providing the most technologically advanced and industry relevant microseismic solutions to clients across the oil and gas, mining, and geotechnical industries.
Microseismic monitoring for oil and gas and mining applications has experienced a shift in recent years towards integrated solutions which offer greater value for decision makers. "Whether we are integrating log, tracer, or production data with reservoir seismicity to understand stimulation efficiency, or integrating mine seismicity with geotechnical data to improve mine models, there is great potential to extract even more meaningful results from microseismic data," says Dr. Ted Urbancic, Chief Technology Officer at ESG Solutions. "Bringing Eric and Doug on board reflects a natural evolution in ESG's growth, and we are excited to tap into their expertise to drive greater value from our products and services moving forward."
Eric von Lunen draws on 30 years of industry experience across diverse geographies and areas of geophysics. "He has a unique perspective on the value of geophysical methods as they relate to unconventional reservoirs and reserve estimation, particularly the role of microseismic monitoring, and is an incredible asset to our team," says Urbancic.
Doug Angus is an expert in the development of integrated fluid-flow, geo-mechanical and seismic modelling algorithms for time-lapse seismic and microseismic applications. He joins ESG from the University of Leeds where he focused on the field of seismic geomechanics to address reservoir production and injection challenges. "Doug's knowledge and experience in geomechanics is a timely and welcome addition to the growing and diverse work of ESG," says Urbancic.
These recent additions follow ESG's appointment of Dr. Willem de Beer in August as Senior Manager for Australia. Willem draws on 19 years of industry experience and spent the last 12 years with Golder Associates providing senior level management and technical consulting. "Willem brings significant experience and expertise in mining induced seismicity, rock mechanics and geophysics, and we are very pleased to have him directing our activity in the region," says Zara Anderson, General Manager for Mining and Geotechnical Services at ESG.
ESG continues to invest in innovation, focusing on integration in all aspects of the business. "We see an incredible synergy between the various groups within ESG, and are looking to leverage our unique position in all markets," says Ken Arnold, President of ESG Solutions. "We have much exciting work ahead, and expect that Eric, Doug and Willem will all make significant contributions moving forward."
