ESKIMOS STARS & WAR AMPS "CHAMP" DEBUT SAFETY PSA THIS WEEKEND
OTTAWA, Oct 5 /CNW/ - Losing his left foot in a lawnmower accident has given Noah Campeau, 10, a special interest in spreading The War Amps PLAYSAFE message to other children.
This past summer, Noah, who has been named The War Amps National Safety Ambassador, joined Edmonton Eskimos stars Ricky Ray and Maurice Lloyd to film a new PLAYSAFE public service announcement at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. The PSA will begin airing this Thanksgiving weekend during TSN football telecasts and will continue through the playoffs and Grey Cup. It can be viewed on The War Amps Web site at waramps.ca/13.
For more than 30 years, The War Amps and the Canadian Football League have shared a special tradition - the annual CFL PLAYSAFE PSA, saluting the League's support of The War Amps safety program. Like all War Amps productions, the PSA is funded by corporate sponsors.
Noah was enrolled in The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program shortly after his accident and now uses his experience to pass on the PLAYSAFE message to other children through presentations, riding the Association's PLAYSAFE/DRIVESAFE float in parades and through this PSA.
"Noah delivers his message in a way that is both fun and hard-hitting at the same time," says Rob Larman, Director of The War Amps PLAYSAFE Program, who notes that the tremendous support shown by the CFL and the Eskimos will help get this potentially life-saving message out to an even wider audience.
Using the Winner's Circle philosophy, CHAMP changes the lives of child amputees through funding for artificial limbs, counseling, seminars and programs like Matching Mothers.
The War Amps receives no government funding. Its programs are made possible solely through public support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service. For more information, use E-ZEE ACCESS: call toll-free 1800 250-3030, fax 1 800 219-8988 or visit waramps.ca.
