Espace Création Loto-Québec presents Territoires imaginés, par les artistes de la Collection Loto-Québec - With the special collaboration of Fred Pellerin Français
MONTREAL, April 16, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - From April 17 to June 23, 2013, Espace Création Loto-Québec is inviting the public to explore our homeland, the real and the imaginary, through the eyes of renowned and up-and-coming artists whose works are part of Collection Loto-Québec.
This new exhibit features 67 works by Québec artists, including Mario Faubert, René Derouin, Frédéric Back, Judith Berry and Michael Smith among others, depicting places, spaces or objects familiar to us. In addition, a wonderful text penned by Fred Pellerin describes his personal homeland, real and fictitious, that we are getting to know quite well and, at the same time, that lays a backdrop for the exhibition.
The title Territoires imaginés is the namesake of a painting by Giorgia Volpe, a Collection Loto-Québec artist, featured in this impressive exhibition that includes paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and photographs.
"As the Collection acquires pieces from throughout the province, the exhibition presents works by artists who were born or are living in different parts of Québec," explained Louis Pelletier, Curator for Collection Loto-Québec.
The concept of homeland could not be better brought home than by having it travel to various locations in the province. So, after spending some time in Montréal, the exhibition will go on tour to Sherbrooke, Saint-Jérôme, Rouyn-Noranda and Val-d'Or. Presented free of charge, the event provides an excellent showcase for Collection Loto-Québec artists as well as increased access to visual arts in a number of regions in Québec.
Moreover, at each regional tour stop, a "green" initiative will be organized in cooperation with the main environmental organizations in the area - a perfectly natural extension to an exhibition that highlights our homeland. A specific announcement will be issued for each project.
