OTTAWA, Feb. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - Espial, a leader in on-demand TV software and solutions, today announced that the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), a global leader in developing technology standards that are transforming the industry and society, has invited Espial to showcase its advanced HTML5 user experience at the W3C booth at the Mobile World Congress, February 24-27 in Barcelona. As the developers of the Open Web Platform, W3C will highlight demos from invited member companies, such as Espial, that showcase innovative uses of developing web standards including HTML5. At the W3C stand, Espial will showcase its highly responsive HTML5 user interface using the Espial STB Client on an advanced RDK (Reference Design Kit) set-top box and demonstrate time shifting content to Apple and Android mobile devices.
"HTML5 has the power not only to transform user experiences across TV and mobile devices, it also enables technology convergence and greater device interoperability," said Philipp Hoschka, W3C Ubiquitous Web Domain Lead. "We are excited that Espial will showcase at our booth how HTML5 can change the way we harness the power of the web."
"We believe that HTML5 ushers in a new era in user experiences and are working with operators around the world to make this a reality," said Kirk Edwardson, Director of Product Marketing, Espial. "Built on open standards, HTML5 not only helps us bring rich, immersive user experiences with new forms of interaction, it also ensures a consistent user experience on any device."
