/CNW/ - European Goldfields Limited (AIM: EGU /TSX: EGU) ("European Goldfields" or the "Company") reports with great sadness the death of a miner due to an underground accident at the Mavres Petres mine yesterday. A rockfall occurred during roof maintenance 162 metres underground, killing one worker and injuring a second. The mine was closed briefly due to investigation of the accident by Hellas Gold and government authorities and will re-open on Monday after the funeral. The Company offers its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
