Event at the TAZ encouraging young montrealers to participate in the Mathieu
Da Costa Challenge and Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition
MONTREAL, Nov. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - Montreal's schools and youth organisations will attend an event this afternoon, Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the TAZ to promote the Mathieu Da Costa Challenge and the Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition. These two important initiatives of the Multiculturalism Program of Citizenship and Immigration Canada encourage young generations to learn more about our country's cultural diversity and increase their awareness of the fight against racial discrimination in a fun and creative way.
The Mathieu Da Costa Challenge, an artwork or writing contest for young people aged 9 to 18, highlights contributions made by Canadians of Aboriginal, African or other ethnocultural backgrounds to the building of Canada. The Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition invites young people between the ages of 10 and 20 to create and submit videos aimed at combating racial discrimination. The winning videos will be televised on VRAK.TV as public service announcements.
Dedicated Lester B. Pearson High School and Lucien Pagé High School students of diverse ethnocultural background will share their experience with racism and the importance of celebrating cultural diversity.
VRAK.TV and Stéphane Bellavance of Le Steph show will be present to launch a challenge to all schools in Quebec.
