Exclusive Multi-Disciplinary Advising Workshop for Farm Business Advisors
Interactive Learning Sessions to be held across Ontario
LONDON, ON, May 15, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Farm Advisors (CAFA) Inc. is pleased to announce a new multi-disciplinary learning workshop for farm advisors and consultants. A workshop will be held in three locations, London, Guelph and Kemptville, in July and August.
The workshop will teach advisors how to avoid giving advice that conflict with counsel from advisors in other fields while learning to build and function within a team. The fundamental principles of knowing when and how to build multi-disciplinary advising teams that benefit both their farm clients and their business will be discussed. Advisors will explore the dynamics associated with working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and learn how to apply the concepts to work more effectively with their agri-business clients. They will also gain an appreciation of how biases and assumptions around other disciplines can impact their work.
Wayne Ryan, CEO of Allied Associates Chartered Accountants states, "Many of our clients look to us to spearhead advisory services and we can take from this session things that will enhance our ability to fulfill this role."
Workshop instructor, Wendy Sage-Hayward brings years of experience building professional leadership capabilities and helping family members collaboratively create systems, structures and relationships to help them function as effective stewards of their enterprise. Wendy teaches at UBC's Sauder School of Business, Business Families Centre and Executive Education. Richard Cressman, Centre for Excellence will be taking the workshop as " Spending a day with someone who has a background like Wendy's is well worth it."
CAFA is a multi-disciplinary, national, non-profit organization dedicated to assisting farm families and businesses by increasing the skills and knowledge of farm advisors.
This project is funded in part through the Agricultural Management Institute (AMI). The AMI is part of the Best Practices Suite of programs for Growing Forward, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
