Executive Producer with Rogers TV Barrie to Receive Fire Safety Award

TORONTO, June 16, 2014 /CNW/ - Terry Leigh, videographer and executive producer with Rogers TV Barrie will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 19, 2014 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.

Over the past year, Leigh has generously donated his time and expertise to support Barrie Fire and Emergency Service's public education initiatives.

Last year, Leigh produced a creative fire safety video featuring members of the fire department singing the 12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety. With lyrics written by the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council as part of their annual holiday fire safety campaign, the video promotes fire safety messages than can be applied to the holidays and year 'round. Barrie Fire and Emergency Service featured the video through their social media platforms and also shared it with fire departments across the province.

Leigh also produced a public service announcement (PSA) for the fire department to enhance awareness about deadly carbon monoxide. The PSA was posted to social media and has been extremely well-received by the community.

"With the assistance of Terry Leigh of Rogers TV Barrie, the fire department has been able to reach thousands of residents of the City of Barrie and Simcoe County in fun and engaging ways," said Ted Wieclawek, Chair, Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council.
