Express Scripts Canada President Michael Biskey to present to Economic Club of Canada on sustainable employer drug benefits
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Express Scripts Canada, one of the largest providers of health benefits management services in Canada, today announced that Michael Biskey, President of Express Scripts Canada, will present to the Economic Club of Canada on Thursday, September 19 at the Hilton Toronto.
In his presentation entitled Drug Benefit Coverage for Canadians: Sustainability Risks and Strategies, Mr. Biskey will explore factors that threaten the sustainability of employer drug benefits - namely increasing drug spend due to the growing use of specialty drugs and waste contained within the prescription drug benefit. The session will include a discussion of innovative solutions that can help employers save money and better manage costs by driving better decisions that will reduce waste.
"Given concerns about rapidly rising costs to maintain health-benefits programs, we need to improve the way Canadians make decisions within their drug benefit," said Mr. Biskey. "It is incumbent upon health-benefits providers, plan sponsors and plan members to collaborate more closely to create greater efficiencies in the health-benefits plans overall, which in turn, will help control the rising costs of prescription medications and make plans more sustainable over time.
"Comprehensive drug coverage is very important to Canadians, and we need to take action now to protect this coverage."
More information about Mr. Biskey's presentation, including ticket information, can be obtained from the Economic Club of Canada Website at www.economicclub.ca/events.
