Extreme weather impacting CAA Service
Impacted areas include Wellington County, Perth, London, Barrie, Collingwood, Alliston and New Tecumseth
THORNHILL, ON, Dec. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - A blast of extreme winter weather is having a severe impact on CAA roadside service. The areas most impacted include: Wellington County, Perth, London, Barrie, Collingwood, Alliston and New Tecumseth.
Blowing snow, high winds, low visibility and extreme cold has made many of the roads hazardous, making it difficult for our vehicles to arrive on scene to assist. In addition, there have been a number of road and highway closures in the affected areas, further hampering our assistance efforts.
CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) is advising stranded members in the area to contact the Ontario Provincial Police for assistance and advising all other motorists to remain at home or off the roads if possible.
CAA SCO thanks our members for their patience during this extreme weather event. We are prioritizing service to members stranded on highways and roads. We ask members who require service, but are at home, to call back after the storm event so that can get to priority calls faster.
We advise those members waiting for service in the above areas that if an opportunity for faster service or safe transport arrives before CAA, to accept the service and to contact us immediately. CAA will reimburse the costs associated with the alternate service.
CAA South Central Ontario is a not-for-profit auto club offering roadside services, automotive care, travel and insurance. There are more than 1.9 million CAA members in South Central Ontario and over 5.9 million members in Canada.
