EY commits multi-year support to Plan International Canada for emergency disaster response
TORONTO, Oct. 12, 2016 /CNW/ - On this year's International Day of the Girl, October 11, EY officially signed a three year commitment to Plan International Canada for emergency response to disasters, other crises, and recovery efforts. This commitment marks the renewal of EY's ongoing support of Plan International Canada as an official Disaster Response partner.
When a disaster strikes, children and young people, especially adolescent girls, suffer disproportionately. The reason is that disasters exacerbate pre-existing inequalities and protection concerns. For adolescent girls, disasters mean an increase in the likelihood of being forced into marriages, performing transactional sex, and experiencing gender-based violence.
EY's generous contribution will support Plan International Canada's emergency response efforts and help ensure girls are safe and secure when disasters happen.
