Facedrive - a New Toronto-Based Ridesharing Company Launches Industry First CO2 Emissions Reduction Service
In app algorithm calculates estimated CO2 for each journey and allocates monetary value to be paid to green initiative
TORONTO, Oct. 30, 2017 /CNW/ - Facedrive Inc., a new Toronto-based ridesharing service has officially launched today introducing the industry's first service to include a carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions reduction plan through its partnership with The Toronto Parks and Tree Foundation (TPTF). Facedrive is licensed throughout Ontario and is servicing Toronto and the downtown core.
Facedrive's in app algorithm calculates estimated CO2 for each car journey and allocates an equivalent monetary value that will go to the TPTF, a charity that works in partnership with the City of Toronto, community groups, neighbourhoods, individuals and the business community to re-imagine local parks and improve the health of Toronto's urban forest by supporting tree planting and stewardship efforts.
"We are excited to partner with Facedrive. We really like their local focus and their commitment to improve our community," said Carla Grant, Executive Director, Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation. "This is a creative solution to tackling an important issue. Planting trees is one of the most cost effective ways we can remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and an investment in urban trees increases the positive impact."
Facedrive which does not include surge pricing as part of its fee structure, will also allow riders to choose between electric vehicles (EV), hybrids and traditional fuel-based cars. EVs won't require emissions offsetting, hybrids and traditional fuel-based cars will. Facedrive's in app algorithm takes these factors into account.
The sustainability measure is being introduced while Facedrive offers competitive journey fares, and prioritizes how it treats its driver community. Riders will not pay a premium for CO2 emissions offsetting, and drivers won't lose any of their fare to pay for the green initiative. Facedrive will allocate money from its commissions with a goal to planting 16,000 trees in Toronto over the next year.
Introducing an emissions reduction alternative service is just one way Facedrive differs radically from its competitors. Facedrive is a uniquely people and planet first ridesharing platform committed to doing business fairly and equitably.
"We believe things can be done differently," said Irfan Khan, President, Facedrive Inc. "The ridesharing model can shift to reward drivers for their hard work, while offering riders a premium experience that positively contributes to the wellbeing of the environment."
Facedrive offers its drivers the highest industry payouts, includes driver tipping, and 33 per cent of Facedrive's annual profits will go back to its drivers network; another industry first.
Facedrive ride fee structure:
Riders can choose between sedans and SUVs:
- For sedans our base fare is $2.50, 18 cents per minute, 81 cents per km, as well as a $2.75 service fee.
- For SUVs our base fare is $5.00, 35 cents per minute, $1.50 per km as well as a $2.75 service fee.
Facedrive meets the industry standard cancellation fee of $5.00.
The Facedrive app is available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and provides riders with real time car requests, per journey fare, and estimated time of arrival, one click payment, driver commenting and rating.
