FACT CHECK: HUDAK FLIP FLOPS AT ECONOMIC SUMMIT
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON, Nov. 2 /CNW/ - At the Ontario Economic Summit, Tim Hudak showed again that he'll say one thing one day, and then another thing the next. But when it comes to creating jobs for Ontario families, Tim Hudak just doesn't get it.
On Infrastructure:
- Today, Hudak spoke to the need to support "transportation infrastructure as a gateway to growth." (Hudak Remarks, November 2, 2010)
- But in 2009, Hudak said he opposed investing in Ontario's infrastructure: "I don't think that's the right approach. It's too much." (TVO's The Agenda, March 31, 2009)
- Turns out, The Conference Board of Canada said the infrastructure funding Hudak opposed helped save 70,000 jobs last year.
On Energy Sector Jobs:
- Today, Hudak said "we must treat energy policy as an economic policy." (Hudak Remarks, November 2, 2010)
- But Hudak called Samsung's plan to create 16,000 Ontario jobs and 4 new manufacturing plants "a bad deal for Ontario." (Canadian Press, January 21, 2010)
- Hudak and the Conservatives would allow those jobs and investment to flow to a different, competing jurisdiction.
Tim Hudak and the Conservatives have opposed every measure the McGuinty government has brought forward to help Ontario families by creating jobs and stimulating the economy.
When it comes to creating jobs, Ontario families know that they can't count on Tim.
