Fact or Ficton: Eating healthy by ordering takeout? It is possible! Nutritionist Hubert Cormier weighs in on takeout food: Can it be a healthy alternative to home cooking? Français
MONTREAL, June 13, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - We often associate restaurant or takeout food with high caloric meals, salty food and generally unhealthy. Perception or reality? With more than 700 restaurant partners in Montréal alone, JUST EAT shows how you can order in while still maintaining a healthy, balanced diet.
To do this, JUST EAT approached nutritionist Hubert Cormier, who when reviewing the restaurant options available, was able to confirm that it is indeed possible to make healthy food choices when it comes to takeout. "With such busy lifestyles these days, it's not always possible to cook at home, but we also don't want to make compromises on the quality of food we eat. Think it's impossible to choose healthy takeout meals? Think again!"
Feel like challenging yourself to some healthy options? Here is a list of dishes chosen by Hubert, who scoured tons of menus from local Montreal restaurants on JUST EAT:
Monday:: Lola Rosa:: Hempburger with caramelized onions
A grilled tofu burger, hemp seeds and chia, tomato, pickle and ketchup. It is served with chickpea House fries and a green salad. Fresh Vegetarian option, perfect for meatless Mondays (Instagram #LundiSansViande or #MeatlessMonday to track the movement).
Tuesday:: Comptoir 21:: Salad
Exquisite salad with a great source of protein that accompanies the dish (fish marinated in soy, Maple and Sriracha).
Wednesday:: Copper Branch:: Asian Fusion Energy Bowl
Organic mung and Edamame beans with an interesting combination of vegetables: broccoli, beets, turnips, lettuce, with bonus organic goji berries topped with a tamari ginger dressing!
Thursday:: A&V Alimentation verte:: Romana Salad
Quinoa, feta cheese and walnuts - enough protein and fiber to feel well satisfied!
Friday:: Gourmet Burger:: Pedro's Burger
Loving the original condiments in this burger: pickled eggplant, pesto red pepper and Monterey Jack. I love the salmon burger.
Saturday:: Bombay Mahal Thali:: Lamb Madras
Cooked in spicy coconut milk, the lamb is accompanied by their natural yogurt made in house and basmati 'Mahal Pulao' rice with vegetables.
Sunday:: Chickpeas with cumin and couscous:: Au Coin berbère
Beautiful entrée of chickpeas with cumin; Hubert also likes the Berbeère salad. As a main dish, the rabbit couscous from Quebec deserves all the praise.
Lastly, Hubert mentions: " If you order your meal with JUST EAT, make sure you choose one that is rich in proteins and vegetables, either in the dish or as a side. If it seems to lack in protein, complete your meal with either Greek yogurt, a soy beverage, reduced-fat cheese or some nuts."
