TORONTO, Feb. 20, 2019 /CNW/ - This year, Fairmont Royal York, one of Canada's most cherished landmarks, will celebrate its 90th anniversary and reveal a transformation like never before. In the final and most exciting phase of a multi-year renovation, the new look will feature reimagined dining venues, contemporary event and meeting spaces as well as a completely redefined Fairmont Gold, presenting the finest luxury hotel offerings and services in the city. The grand renovation will be completed summer 2019, in time for the hotel's official anniversary celebration.
"Fairmont Royal York has always been a defining feature of the Toronto skyline and we are excited to announce the next stage in its time-honoured history," says Edwin Frizzell, regional vice president and general manager, Fairmont Royal York. "As we celebrate 90 years of outstanding service, incredible people and history-making moments, it is with great pride that we prepare to unveil the most significant transformation this building has ever seen. A grand scale renovation that both modernizes the property and stays true to our past, this project is a reflection of our storied history and a look into our exciting future."
The concept behind the new lobby and arrival experience is inspired by a journey from Toronto's past through its present. The design embraces and preserves the building's grand character and heritage, while creating a contemporary, modern escape that feels timeless.
The hotel's meeting, event and wedding spaces will also receive a revamp, reflecting a more modern style and highlighting its exquisite historical features. Additionally, the hotel reimagines its Fairmont Gold offering, taking inspiration from the property's celebrated history of luxury accommodations and personalized, premium services sought after by today's elite travellers.
Food and beverage offerings at the hotel will feature four new elevated dining concepts created by respected Fairmont Executive Chef jW Foster. With over 15 years' experience as a seasoned chef at various Fairmont properties around the globe, he is bringing his expertise back to Toronto. He plans to honour the brand's commitment to sustainable food by implementing a new program that works closely with Ontario farmers to provide authentically local ingredients in each new menu.
The crowning moment in the hotel's grand transformation will be the unveiling of two new Legacy Suites. Incorporating downtown Toronto's metropolitan grandeur with sophisticated, residential-style living, Fairmont Royal York transforms its two most notable signature suites into the city's defining luxury experience.
In the spirit of this milestone year, the hotel will soon announce its plans to celebrate with guests, clients and the community alike. To learn more about Fairmont Royal York's transformation and to stay up-to-date on 90th anniversary events, please visit www.thefairmontroyalyork.com.
