TORONTO, Nov. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - Two months into the fall television season, new data from BBM Canada confirms that CTV delivers at least four of the Top 5 most-watched programs with total viewers and all key adult demos, and four of the Top 6 most-watched new programs. Overall, CTV has more Top 10 and Top 20 programs than all other networks in total viewers and all key adult demos.
Already Canada's #1 new series, MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. has also become the most-watched new fall program on record in Canada. Anchoring CTV's Tuesday night lineup, MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. has helped contribute to double-digit growth on Tuesdays over last fall, up a substantial 24% in primetime (7-11 p.m.). The strong programming block, which also includes new comedies THE GOLDBERGS and TROPHY WIFE, has also become home to PERSON OF INTEREST, which has instantly become a Top 20 series since its move to CTV.
CTV's stability is evidenced by the fact it is the only Canadian network to have seen its fall schedule remain intact throughout the season. Additionally, the fall season has seen the average age of a CTV viewer drop by one year to 45, making CTV the second-youngest conventional network in the country. Meanwhile, bolstered by a revamp of its schedule, CTV Two has seen its primetime audience grow by 10% over last year.
"The combination of some of the season's most-anticipated new series and the ongoing strength of our returning programs has resulted in a strong fall for CTV," said Phil King, President, CTV Programming and Sports. "We look forward to building upon this momentum into a solid winter season, featuring the return of THE FOLLOWING, the debut of INTELLIGENCE, and some amazing homegrown series including MASTERCHEF CANADA, SAVING HOPE, and MOTIVE."
