Fantino confident in justice system

ORILLIA, ON, Jan. 20 /CNW/ - Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Commissioner Julian Fantino has confirmed that he received a summons today regarding an allegation brought against him by a private citizen concerning an e-mail correspondence.

"I have been a strong advocate throughout my career for a fair and impartial criminal justice system," said Commissioner Fantino. "My intent, as I have previously made known, is to vigorously defend myself and the OPP against this vexatious allegation. I have absolute confidence in the ultimate outcome of this process.

"Since this matter is before the courts and I respect the court's jurisdiction, I will not be making any further comment until this matter is resolved," said Commissioner Fantino.
