TORONTO, March 8, 2019 /CNW/ - To mark International Women's Day (IWD), Fasken today launched a new web series showcasing its female leaders and has organized events to mark the occasion at its offices worldwide.
"Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is part of Fasken's core values and beliefs," said Peter Feldberg, Firm Managing Partner. "We will be highlighting women in leadership roles throughout the Firm in a year-long initiative celebrating their achievements."
Over the course of the year, the web series will underline the firm's key message "At Fasken, we value a workplace where women are leaders," by featuring women leaders alongside their male counterparts.
Regional activities celebrating IWD include seminars on relevant topics such as the resilience of women and sexual harassment, a collaboration with the Ontario Women's Network and various social gatherings throughout the day. Fasken is also a Gold Sponsor at the 2019 Business in Vancouver Influential Women in Business Awards. The event features a leadership award in memory of Michelle Pockey who was a Partner at Fasken until she passed away in 2016.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion
In 2018, Fasken received Mansfield Certification, a designation that confirms the firm considered women and/or visible minorities in 30% or more of at least 70% of all its senior positions. Fasken was part of the original 30 pilot law firms to commit to this project and among the 41 that received this certification.
