Federal Bridge Corporation realigns truck exit as part of the master plan at the Blue Water Bridge Français
OTTAWA, Feb 15, 2018 /CNW/ - As a follow-up to last March's announcement, The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) is advising travellers that starting March 1, 2018, as part of the upcoming work associated to the Blue Water Bridge Master Plan, the Canada-bound truck exit will be realigned on the plaza.
FBCL will be installing barriers and signage to clearly direct truck traffic leaving the plaza. This new alignment will facilitate the next phase of work for the demolition of the old administration buildings.
Among the various steps of the Master Plan/Emergency Return Road that have to be completed, the old commercial building, located next to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) traffic operations, is slated to be demolished in 2018. This building was replaced by the Blue Water Bridge Corporate Centre in 2009.
These projects which began in the spring of 2017 will continue over the next few years. Each project's scope and schedule will be announced at a later date once the various design investigation activities (including excavation and associated archeological requirements) are completed.
Background Blue Water Bridge Master Plan
The Blue Water Bridge Master Plan sets forth the strategy for the redevelopment of the Blue Water Bridge Canadian Plaza and encompasses both short-term and long-term planning for bridge and plaza infrastructure.
The original Blue Water Bridge Master Plan was completed in 2004, and was subsequently updated in 2009 and 2013. With the change in governance, following the amalgamation, FBCL reviewed the Master Plan's scope and long-term funding requirements to best inform current decision-making.
