Federal Minister Diane Finley confirmed for Mayor's Housing Summit
REGINA, April 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Minister Diane Finley, Federal Minister Responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), will address the Housing Summit in Regina on May 13 and 14.
"I am very pleased to announce that Minister Finley and Minister June Draude, the Provincial Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation are both attending and addressing the delegates at the Summit," said Mayor Michael Fougere.
"Housing is a significant issue for us as a city, as well as nationally for all growing communities. As such, it is important that we have a full dialogue with our Federal and Provincial partners so that we can identify innovative solutions to alleviate housing pressures."
In addition to the Federal and Provincial governments, many other organizations, such as non-profit groups, the private sector, developers and home builders, will also participate in the Summit. Various speakers will address topics under the themes of supply for rental and affordable housing, innovation in housing as well as partnerships.
"This Summit is just the beginning of the solution. The purpose and very design of the Housing Summit is a call to action that brings together housing stakeholders directly involved in the funding, planning and policy decisions. It provides the necessary forum that will result in collaborative solutions-based approaches," said Fougere.
While there is a registration fee of $275.00, representatives from registered, non-profit housing organizations, to a maximum of two participants, will be provided with free registration to ensure there is no barrier for anyone to take part.
