New Program to Replace Annual Small Business Grant Contest in 2020
MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 10, 2020 /CNW/ - 2020 is not a year for usual contests. It is the year to mobilize resources and to help as quickly as possible. That is why FedEx Express Canada, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) announced today the launch of its #SupportSmall grant initiative. The program will distribute prize money normally allocated for the company's highly anticipated annual Canadian Small Business Grant Contest to help small businesses in need.
"These are unprecedented times and Canada's small business community is feeling it the most," said Lisa Lisson, president, FedEx Express Canada. "This is a sector that has built everything from sweat and toil. As Canada's largest employment sector, our small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we are committed to do what we can to protect the dignity and lifelong passion of our entrepreneurs and their employees. This initiative is but one small measure in which FedEx is here to help."
The program will award CAD $5,000 to 30 Canadian small businesses that have been affected by COVID-19. The entry period will run from June 10, 2020, until June 30, 2020. Whether a business is looking to refresh its business model, shift to selling and shipping online, replenish inventory, or simply pay monthly expenses, the grant is aimed at providing Canadian small businesses with additional support to help ease some of the burdens they are facing.
