MONTRÉAL, May 24, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - FÉRIQUE Fund Management is pleased to announce its new Board of Directors, which took office on April 25, 2019, and would like to underscore the election of Robin Blanchet, Eng., ASC, as Chairman.
Mr. Blanchet, who was elected as a Director in 2018, succeeds Jacques Laparé, Eng., MBA, who is stepping down after many years of involvement with FÉRIQUE Fund Management, including eight years as Chairman. After beginning his career in the aerospace industry, Mr. Blanchet took the helm at his family's company, Fèves au Lard L'Héritage Ltée, as General Manager and then as Chairman. He has experience on various audit, investment, philanthropic, human resources and governance committees. He has also been a member of various boards, two of them as Chairman.
FÉRIQUE Fund Management offers its sincere congratulations to Mr. Blanchet on his election as Chairman and its warm thanks to Mr. Laparé for his involvement and contribution over the past 11 years.
FÉRIQUE Fund Management is also pleased to announce the arrival of five new members of its Board of Directors:
Sébastien Boyer, E.I.T., has been elected as an engineer member. He has an electrical engineering degree from the École Polytechnique de Montréal. He began his career as a Systems Engineer and then joined Media5 Corporation, where he held various positions before being appointed Director of Sales, Business Development and Technical Support in 2016. In 2008 and 2009, he was a member of FÉRIQUE Fund Management's Ad Hoc Responsible Investment Committee. He is a member of the Governing Board of École La Visitation (CSDM) and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Office Québec-Amériques pour la jeunesse and a member of the Executive Committee of Génération d'Idées, an organization that fosters a new generation of talent.
Benjamin Desmarais, B.A.A., was appointed by the Board as a co-opted director.
Mr. Desmarais holds a degree in business administration from HEC Montréal. He is a co-founder of Fibrenoire, a telecom infrastructure SME, where he was Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2018. In January 2019, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ni2, a company that offers innovative software solutions.
Louis Dubé, LL.L, Eng. ASC, was elected as an engineer member. Mr. Dubé has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Université Laval and a Bachelor of Civil Laws from the University of Ottawa and has also completed the Chartered Director Program at Université Laval. He began his career as a litigation lawyer before the Federal Court and then worked as in-house counsel with major corporations. He has sat on various boards of directors, joining the Board of Moisson Rive-Sud in 2015 and becoming its Chairman about two years ago.
Renaud Raymond, Eng., MBA, was elected as an honorary member. Mr. Raymond has a mechanical engineering degree from the Université de Sherbrooke and also completed a Master of Business Administration at Université Laval. During his career, he has held senior management positions in Québec's public service, notably Senior Director, Banking Operations, at the Ministère des Finances and Director General of the Energy Efficiency Innovation Bureau of the Ministère de l'Énergie et des Ressources naturelles. From 2012 to 2018, he was on the Board of Directors of the Financial Management Institute of Canada (Québec Chapter), and since December 2017 has been a member of the Board of Directors of Convivio, a co-operative with close to 20,000 members.
Luc Sarrazin, CPA, CGA, was elected as a regular member. From 1980 to 2004, he worked in investment management at CIBC Asset Management and its mutual fund and private wealth subsidiaries. From 2004 to 2008, he was Chief Financial Officer at Fiera Capital. He has been an independent portfolio management consultant since 2008. He has sat on numerous boards of directors and audit committees.
