Festival Kompa Zouk Breaks a New Record
TORONTO, Aug. 9, 2013 /CNW/ - It is estimated that more than 40,000 people attended the fifth edition of Festival Kompa Zouk, FKZO's signature French Creole Festival held at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, from August 2nd to August 4th. The festival attracted visitors from across Ontario and from outside of the province, including a large number of visitors from Quebec and the US. This year's attendance has broken a new record for the Festival, which doubled its attendance from last year's figure of 20,000.
The huge crowd gave Mapou Ginen and Carimi an ovation, and cheered enthusiastically for Tabou Combo, the legendary Haitian band, as they performed their hit songs in Creole and Spanish.
For Marie Jennyne Mayard, Founder and Manager of the Festival, FKZO managed to exceed people's expectations thanks to the dedicated work of volunteers, as well as the unconditional support of sponsors. She is more than thrilled and would like to warmly thank everyone that made this event possible.
