MONTREAL, July 17, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Fête des enfants de Montréal is back at Parc Jean-Drapeau this weekend (July 20-21) with an array of diverse activities, shows, scientific workshops, free games, and many new features and surprises. The family gathering place par excellence, Fête des enfants de Montréal is, first and foremost, an event that fosters the development of children aged 12 and under. And Fête des enfants de Montréal has a wide-ranging program as it makes its triumphant return this year.
The list of headliners includes some of the Télé-Québec stars, notably 1, 2, 3… Géant and Toc-Toc-Toc, who will perform on the main stage. The popular Henri Godon et les bedondaines will also be taking part in the festivities, as will the group Les Petites Tounes and the Shilvi show. Recent additions to the program of activities are performances by acrobatic artists from Cirque Akya and flying trapeze acts by Cirque Carpe Diem which, incidentally, will be inviting the children to come and test their trapeze-artist talent.
Obviously, it just wouldn't be the Fête des enfants de Montréal without the giant inflatable structures and the buccaneer zone for 0-6 year olds, the makeup, home decorating, and scientific workshops, the climbing tower, zip-line and giant foosball. The Fête also has an inter-cultural segment with the Société du patrimoine du Québec's Village des traditions, which is presenting 10 workshops that allow people to discover the various cultural wealth, along with providing traditional interactive dance lessons in collaboration with the Sortilèges group. The Stewart Museum and the Biosphère, environment museum, complement the Fête with surprise and discovery filled activities.
There are two other new features this year with the Challenge plein air WIXX, which invites children aged 9 to 13 to get physically active by going on an impressive obstacle course. The Naître et Grandir mobile squad will be going along the trails of the site distributing free copies of Mon Joujou-livre, a children's book designed for tiny tots.
The Fête des enfants de Montréal is made possible through the participation of the City of Montréal, Challenge plein air WIXX led by Québec en Forme, Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), Samajam, Minute Maid and the Société du patrimoine d'expression du Québec.
The mission of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau is to manage, administrate, develop, protect and animate Parc Jean-Drapeau. For any information on the Fête des enfants de Montréal and on Parc Jean-Drapeau's activities, please go to parcjeandrapeau.com.
