TORONTO, Jan. 28, 2015 /CNW/ - Fidelity Investments Canada ULC (Fidelity Canada) today announced that Brian Miron, a Fidelity fixed income portfolio manager, has made the personal decision to retire. He will remain with Fidelity until June 30, 2015 and will transition away from his portfolio management responsibilities effective April 1, 2015. Miron is currently co-portfolio manager with Catriona Martin on a number of Fidelity Canada investment mandates.
Fidelity's fixed income team includes over 200 investment professionals and operates within an effective team-based structure. Each of Fidelity's fixed income mandates are managed by a team composed of portfolio management, credit research, quantitative research and trading professionals.
Evidence of this effective team-based structure is the promotion of Sri Tella to co-portfolio manager alongside current co-portfolio manager Catriona Martin. Sri is a long-time member of the team managing Fidelity's Canadian fixed income investment mandates and has been working alongside Brian and Catriona as a dedicated Canadian fixed income trader since 2008. This change is effective April 1, 2015.
"Brian Miron has been a valued member of the Fidelity fixed income team for 15 years and we wish him well in his retirement. Brian will be staying until June 2015 to ensure a seamless transition for our clients," said Craig Strachan, Head of Product, Fidelity Canada. "While we are always sorry to see people leave, we are proud of the depth and breadth of the talent at Fidelity. Sri Tella is a good example of the deep talent pool at Fidelity and we are delighted to promote Sri to portfolio manager on Fidelity's fixed income team."
Sri is currently a trader on Fidelity's Canada's fixed income mandates. Prior to this assignment, he was trader in Fidelity's taxable bond group from 2007 to 2008. Previously, Sri worked as a research analyst at Merrill Lynch from 2006 to 2007, a trader at HSBC Securities from 2001 to 2004, and a trader at Goldman Sachs from 1996 to 2000. He has been in the investment industry since 1996.
Sri earned his bachelor of commerce degree from Queen's University and his master of business administration from Duke University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
