Fidelity Pops! Fidelity Investments Canada Announces Sponsorship of the National Arts Centre 2012-2013 Fidelity Investments Pops Series Français
TORONTO, Nov. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Fidelity Investments Canada ULC ("Fidelity") today announced its official sponsorship of the National Arts Centre and its 2012-2013 Pops Series. The newly renamed Fidelity Investments Pops Series is an extraordinary collection of six concerts, each with its own distinct musical style. The concerts take place at the National Arts Centre ("NAC") in Ottawa.
"Fidelity is honoured to be an official sponsor of the NAC and its 2012-2013 Pops Series," said Rob Strickland, President, Fidelity Investments Canada. "Throughout our 25 years in Canada, we have been committed to supporting the arts in this country, and we are proud to support the NAC in showcasing emerging and established artists from across Canada and around the world."
"NAC audiences love Gershwin, and we are delighted to begin the Fidelity Investments Pops Series with these concerts of gorgeous piano and orchestra. Pianist Michael Chertock knows Gershwin; he breathes life into those sumptuous melodies. It will be a night of pure enjoyment for concert-goers in Ottawa, and we thank Fidelity for their sponsorship," said Christopher Deacon, Managing Director of the NAC Orchestra.
The NAC is one of Canada's foremost showcases for the performing arts. Today, the NAC works with countless artists, both emerging and established, from across Canada and around the world, and collaborates with scores of other arts organizations across the country. It is at the forefront of youth and educational activities, supporting programmes for young and emerging artists and programmes for young audiences, and producing resources and study materials for teachers. The NAC is the only multidisciplinary, bilingual performing arts centre in North America, and one of the largest in the world.
The 2012-2013 Fidelity Investment Pops Series features a wide range of musical styles from Leonard Bernstein to George Gershwin and the Beatles, to Cuban sensations Tiempo Libre, and Canadian superstars, The Canadian Tenors. The Fidelity Investments Pops Series starts on November 15, with the Gershwin celebration, "All Gershwin, All Pops!". It concludes with the June 20-22, 2013 run of "Those Glorious Hollywood Musicals", which relives the golden age of movie musicals.
