MONTREAL, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Richard Deschamps, member of the Montréal Executive Committee, responsible for sports and recreation, infrastructure and supply, along with Victor Montagliani, President of the Canadian Soccer Association, Pascal Bérubé, Québec Minister for Tourism and Andrew Olivieri, U-20 National Team Head Coach, today announced at a press conference held at Montréal City Hall, that Montréal has been chosen to host the championship final of FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014. The Canadian Soccer Association and FIFA announced the schedule for this major sports event, bringing together the best women soccer players aged 20 and under, to be held August 5 to 24, 2014, in Montréal and three other Canadian cities.
Montréal will host ten matches of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014. In addition to the final, soccer fans will have the opportunity to attend the bronze medal game, a semi-final match, a quarter-final match and six group matches, including a match with the Canadian team. The matches will be held at the Olympic Stadium.
"This is great news for Montréal and soccer fans. The ten games that will be held in our city, and especially the final, will be an opportunity to celebrate the excellence and dedication of outstanding athletes. The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014 will be another opportunity for our city to showcase its expertise in organizing major international sports events," said Richard Deschamps.
FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™
In March 2013, Montréal received confirmation that it would host nine matches, including one semi-final match of the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™, to take place in six Canadian cities. Montréal will therefore benefit from these two consecutive major sports events adding to its reputation on the national and international scenes.

The women's soccer competition will be held in 2014 in Montréal and three other Canadian cities, Edmonton, Toronto and Moncton. A genuine showcase for the world's most talented players, this 7th edition will celebrate the best in women's soccer, the number-one sport played in Canada and around the world. Montrealers will enjoy attending a high-profile competition, whose images will be broadcast in more than 140 countries. More than 350,000 tickets were sold for the men's FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 at Olympic Stadium, including 55,000 for the opening match.
