Fifteen charging stations now in service in the region - The MRC du Haut-Richelieu and the Electric Circuit install additional EV charging stations Français
MONTRÉAL, Jan. 20, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Electric Circuit is pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the MRC du Haut-Richelieu to install a public charging station for electric vehicles. This new charging station will be commissioned in early February and will be located in the underground parking of the MRC du Haut-Richelieu's offices at 380, 4e Avenue in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. There are currently fifteen charging stations in service in the MRC du Haut-Richelieu.
"The MRC du Haut-Richelieu is geared towards transportation electrification and we are convinced that the availability of public charging stations will spur the arrival of even more electric vehicles on our roads," said Michel Fecteau, mayor of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and prefect of the MRC. "Our region is committed to playing a leadership role in this field and we are taking concrete action towards this goal with the installation of Electric Circuit charging stations."
"We are delighted to have the MRC du Haut-Richelieu as a partner," said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of The Electric Circuit's founding partners. "Thanks to its location in the Montérégie, the MRC du Haut-Richelieu provides a strategic link along the Montréal-Vermont Corridor. We are pleased to have such a dynamic partner contribute to making the Electric Circuit the most extensive public charging network in Québec."
The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in providing the charging infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec, with more than 360 stations, including 8 fast-charge stations, in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 97 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit.
Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned.
