Richard J. Neville, FCPA, FCA, to be honoured for his lifetime contributions
OTTAWA, April 9, 2013 /CNW/ - The Society of Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada1) and the U.K.-based Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) are pleased to announce the finalists for the annual Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector.
Congratulations to the following finalists in the category of Financial Leadership:

"This year's finalists represent exemplary work in the role of Chief Financial Officer," says Joy Thomas, MBA, FCMA, C.Dir., executive vice-president, CPA Canada. The selection committee, at its discretion in any given year, may also identify a recipient for a lifetime achievement award. This year, the committee determined that the CMA-CIPFA Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Richard J. Neville, FCPA, FCA, former Deputy Comptroller General of Canada and former Vice President of Finance and Administration / Chief Financial Officer of the Royal Canadian Mint.
Richard's career in the Public Service of Canada began in 1972 as a Systems Analyst with National Health and Welfare. He was soon appointed to the position of Financial Project Officer for the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and continued to advance through high-ranking senior positions over the next four decades of his work in public service. Now retired, Richard continues to serve the public through his participation on several boards of directors, as well as an external member on the Internal Audit Committees of the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canadian Security Intelligence Agency.

The fifth annual Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector is proudly sponsored by the Association of Canadian Financial Officers and PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada. Keynote speakers for the evening include Alister Smith, Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board, and James Ralston, Comptroller General of Canada. Alister's speech will emphasize the necessity of creativity and innovative thinking in today's comptrollership work within the federal government.
