Ontario Authors shortlisted for Prestigious Literary Prize
TORONTO, May 27, 2015 /CNW/ - Six English and five French books have been shortlisted for the 2015 Trillium Book Award, the Ontario government's prestigious award for literature. Three titles are also shortlisted for the Trillium Book Award for Poetry in English language and three titles for the Trillium Book Award for Children's Literature in French language.

English Finalists for the Trillium Book Award/Prix Trillium:

The public are invited to attend a special event on June 16, 2015 where the finalists will read from their nominated works. The event will be held in the Bram & Bluma Appel Salon, Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street (doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the readings begin at 7:00 p.m.).
On June 17, 2015 the Hon. Michael Coteau, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, will announce the winners in Toronto at a dinner

- The Trillium Book Award/Prix Trillium encourages excellence in literature by investing in Ontario-based writers. Award recipients receive $20,000 and their respective publishers receive $2,500 to promote the winning titles. All finalists receive a $500 honorarium.
- Three titles are short-listed for the Trillium Book Award for Poetry in English language, which recognizes literary achievement for a first, second or third published work of poetry.Three titles have been short-listed for the Trillium Book Award for Children's Literature in French language, which is awarded in alternating years with the Trillium Book Award for Poetry in French language. The winner for each of these awards receives $10,000 and their publisher $2,000 for promotion of the titles. Finalists for these awards also receive a $500 honorarium.
- Previous winners have included world-renowned writers Alice Munro, Margaret Atwood, Austin Clarke, Thomas King, Michael Ondaatje, Andrée Lacelle and François Paré.
