Financial Close Reached on Ottawa's Confederation Line

EllisDon part of consortium awarded city's first Light Rail Transit system contract

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 13, 2013 /CNW/ - Rideau Transit Group (RTG), the consortium of which EllisDon is a partner of, has reached financial close on the agreement with the City of Ottawa to design, build, finance and maintain the city's first Light Rail Transit (LRT) system.  Construction cost is estimated at $1.8 billion and EllisDon is involved in all aspects of the project.

RTG will be responsible for the construction of 12.5 kilometres of guideway, 13 new stations and a 2.5 kilometre tunnel.  In addition to the construction, RTG will widen parts of Highway 417, supply the light rail transit vehicles, build a maintenance and storage facility, and provide 30 years of maintenance.  Design and construction starts immediately with revenue service expected in spring 2018.
