FinTech experts to discuss the state of competition and innovation - Start-ups, banks, regulators and competition authorities invited to share insights at workshop Français
OTTAWA, Jan. 16, 2017 /CNW/ - The Competition Bureau's study of technology-driven innovation in financial services (FinTech) will gather momentum in February when key players with an interest in the state of competition in this emerging business sector come together.
During the workshop, the FinTech community – including Canadian start-ups, banks, provincial and federal regulators, and international experts – will be asked to examine the connections between competition, innovation and regulation, as they plan for the future.
A key question to be addressed is whether Canada offers a competitive environment where FinTech innovation can flourish.
Participants will discuss the changing face of the financial services industry; risks that should be identified and mitigated by regulation; and international best practices in bringing FinTech innovation to market.
An agenda for the workshop is now available on the Bureau's website. A summary of the key themes from the FinTech Market Study to date will be made available prior to the workshop and speakers will be announced via social media over the coming weeks.
