First Estimate of Advance Voter Turnout for Ontario's 41st Provincial General Election

TORONTO, June 9, 2014 /CNW/ - Elections Ontario today announced preliminary figures for the advance polls for the 41^st Provincial General Election.

An estimated 566,845 electors cast their ballot for the upcoming provincial general election at an advance poll. The advance poll period began on Saturday, May 31 and ended on Friday, June 6, 2014, providing all Ontario electors seven days to vote at advance poll locations from 10 AM to 8 PM (ET).

This is a decrease from the 603,785 electors who voted at advance polls for the 40^th Provincial General Election in 2011, which were open over a 10 day period beginning September 21 and ending on September 30, 2011.

In 2007, as a result of new legislation, there were 13 days of advance polls for the 39th Provincial General Election. During this period 451,949 electors voted at the advance polls.

Special ballot voting continues at local returning offices until 6 PM (ET) on Wednesday, June 11. On election day, Thursday, June 12, voting locations will be open from 9 AM to 9 PM (ET).  Voters are reminded to bring their Notice of Registration Card and one piece of identification that includes your name and residential address. Elections Ontario is the non-partisan agency responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda.
