TORONTO, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - It was a 'Grand' occasion today, as more than 400 students of Westview Centennial Secondary School packed an auditorium to celebrate the arrival of a new Baldwin Artist Grand piano. The piano comes courtesy of MusiCounts, Canada's music education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), and partner Baldwin Pianos. Westview Centennial, located in Toronto's North York community, is the first-ever recipient of a new education initiative, the MusiCounts Baldwin Piano Prize, valued at $40,000, to be bestowed annually to a deserving Canadian school in support of music education.
The celebration was highlighted by a special performance by JUNO Award-nominated pianist/vocalist, Denzal Sinclaire, hailed as one of the finest Canadian jazz singers of our generation, who wowed students with his piano flair.
