TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2014 /CNW/ - First Gulf announces a major new office development, First Meadowvale Centre Phase 3 (FMC3), next to the Meadowvale GO Station at Derry Road and Argentia Road in Mississauga. Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca and other special dignitaries were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony.
Located close to major highway arteries, FMC3 will give rise to a four storey, 100,000 square foot building targeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certification and provide new office space for over 700 employees.
"Developing new office and commercial projects around GTA regional transit hubs has been a successful strategy for First Gulf. We worked closely with Metrolinx to develop a walkway which connects the office campus directly to GO Transit. We are bringing more jobs to the 905 and believe that access to employment via transit is critical because it enhances the efficiency of labour markets for both workers and employers," said First Gulf CEO David Gerofsky.
FMC3 has direct access to the Meadowvale GO platform and station from Argentia Road (just south of Derry Road) with a GO parking lot adjacent to it.
"Building the pathway from the Meadowvale GO station to the office campus is another example of how our government is committed to unlocking economic growth by investing in transit and transportation infrastructure. First Gulf's decision to develop around a transit hub will help relieve congestion on highways and make the daily commute and quality of life better for Ontario families," said Hon. Steven Del Duca, Ontario's Minister of Transportation.
The FMC3 project is a joint venture with Sun Life Financial Assurance Company of Canada. Sun Life has had a very successful ongoing development partnership with First Gulf in Mississauga.
