TORONTO, April 29, 2013 /CNW/ - At today's opening of the first Mini TFO Centre for Early Childhood Education, at Collège Boréal, the college and Groupe Média TFO signed a memorandum of understanding to promote access to the media resources offered by its education division, TFO Éducation.
Mini TFO is a media world for pre-school-age children, designed to stimulate their development and their imaginations in an environment that combines play with learning. By recreating the world of Mini TFO at Collège Boréal, the new early childhood education centre will also facilitate learning for the future educators who study there, by giving them opportunities to incorporate Mini TFO's rich array of up-to-date tools and resources into their teaching practices.
Thanks to this partnership, students in the French-language Early Childhood Education program at the Toronto campus of Collège Boréal can have direct access to TFO's educational resources at all times by installing the TFO application m.tfo.org on their iPads and using it to access the tfo.org/mini and tfo.org/education web sites. Students will also receive training in how to use TFO's educational resources in teaching settings.
Glenn O'Farrell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Média TFO, says "This innovative approach to teaching is the product of a wonderful collaboration between TFO and Collège Boréal that will give its students a stimulating, rewarding learning environment."
Collège Boréal President Denis Hubert-Dutrisac also underscores the benefits of this new initiative: "Thanks to the innovative approach taken in this new project that we are carrying out in partnership with Groupe Média TFO, our students can be more certain than ever of staying at the leading edge of teaching technologies while contributing fully to the enrichment and development of future generations."
Over the years, Groupe Média TFO has become the principal media partner in the classroom, providing teachers in Ontario and elsewhere with media tools that stimulate children's learning and their imaginations. TFO makes these services available to all French-language schools in five Canadian provinces--Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia—as well as to certain French-immersion programs in Ontario.
- tfo.org/education: is the platform used to distribute over 4 000 different resources to teachers and students, with the hope that it will soon be sharing resources with parents as well.
- Over 2 million students are currently using TFO content, including videos, applications and educational games.
