First Nation will challenge BC Long Term Royalty Agreement
VANCOUVER, June 10, 2015 /CNW/ - Blueberry River First Nations have instructed their lawyers to challenge Minister Coleman's decision to enter into a Long Term Royalty Agreement with Progress Energy, a subsidiary of Petronas. The natural gas produced under the agreement would supply the Pacific NorthWest LNG facility. The agreement requires Progress to invest billions of dollars in a massive industrial program in the core of Blueberry River territory, which will seriously harm their treaty rights. BC failed to consult Blueberry River on this momentous strategic decision.
