Centennial College is launching its Personal Trainer Certification Prep course this fall in conjunction with U.S.-based World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.). Centennial is the first college in Ontario to have secured this unique partnership.
Centennial's part-time course is comprised of 16 hours of in-class lectures over several weeks combined with 16 hours of practical training in a gymnasium setting. Course topics include biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage and health assessment.
Students who successfully complete the W.I.T.S. written competency and practical skills assessment at the end of the course are invited to pursue the W.I.T.S. Personal Trainer certification by doing a 30-hour unpaid internship and CPR/AED certification. For specific details go to www.witseducation.com
Canadian Fitness Professionals Inc. (canfitpro) recognizes World Instructor Training Schools Personal Trainer Certification as eligible for accreditation towards the canfitpro Personal Training Specialist (PTS) designation.
