Flinders Resources Appoints General Manager at Woxna Graphite Project, Sweden
VANCOUVER, Sept. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Flinders Resources Limited ("Flinders") (TSXV: FDR). Mr. Martin McFarlane, President & CEO, announces the appointment of Mr. Craig Griffiths as General Manager at the Company's 100% owned Woxna graphite mine in central Sweden. Craig starts with Flinders on October 17th, 2012.
Craig joins Flinders from Boliden AB in Sweden where for the past 4 years he has been the manager of Boliden's mining technical department responsible for a team of technical experts who trouble shoot production issues at all of Boliden's mines as well as having technical input into material capital projects to develop or upgrade mining operations. Prior to joining Boliden, Craig had several mining roles over 8 years with LKAB, Sweden's largest iron ore producer. Craig qualified as a mining engineer from the highly regarded Ballarat School of Mines, Australia, in 1993.
Mr McFarlane states: "Craig's appointment brings significant mining capability as well as project management and leadership experience that will add further depth to the Flinders team. Craig will be responsible for safely restarting Flinders Woxna graphite project in Sweden on time and on budget in 2013 and then evaluating and delivering the significant opportunities available to add value to the Woxna project. In the current competitive global market for mining personnel, it is pleasing to attract such a high calibre person, with Craig's extensive technical and managerial experience."
On a sadder note, Flinders is saddened to report the passing of Mr. Dan Pettersson, Woxna's process manager. Flinders was informed of the sudden passing this week due to a suspected heart attack. Flinders thoughts are with Dan's family at this time.
Flinders has commenced the process to find a process engineer to replace Dan and simultaneously is looking to engage short term process engineering consultants to minimise disruption to our plans to restart operations at the Woxna graphite project.
On behalf of the Board,
"Martin McFarlane"
Martin McFarlane, President and CEO
