TORONTO, June 5, 2012 /CNW/ - As the countdown to the biggest awards show on the planet continues, MuchMusic announced today additional chart-busting performers set to rock the stage at the 2012 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS. International hip-hop star Flo Rida, Canada's rock royalty Hedley, Grammy Award®-winning, powerful songstress Kelly Clarkson and Britain's superstar sensation Ed Sheeran, bring their unique artistry to the MMVA stage! This impressive roster of talent join previously announced performers Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae Jepsen, Marianas Trench and co-hosts LMFAO, with additional announcements to come. The 2012 MMVAs air live on Sunday, June 17 at 9 p.m. ET, on Much in Canada and Fuse in the U.S., beginning with the 2012 MMVA Red Carpet Special at 8 p.m. ET in both countries.
"I'm so excited about my upcoming performance on the MMVAs," said Flo Rida. "This will be my second time - the first time was amazing and this time it's going to be out of this world. I really love my fans in Canada, they've given me so much over the years and I'm looking forward to seeing them again so soon after my recent Canadian tour."
"We are disappointed that there's no free dinner, but any chance we have to tear it up on a stage in front of our fans, we'll take!" said Hedley. "We're honoured to be a part of such an exciting, world-class event."

Flo Rida
Last time Florida-born rapper and 2012 MMVAs nominee Flo Rida touched down on Much HQ, he opened the 2008 MMVAs by zip-lining from the top of the building onto the stage. No doubt that Flo Rida will wow audiences this year with a killer performance., He has become a chart fixture thanks to the blockbuster singles "Low (feat. T-Pain)," "Right Round," and his most recent worldwide hits "Good Feeling," and "Wild Ones (feat. Sia)." He's also broken down barriers by uniting millions of fans of pop, hip-hop, and club music around the world and establishing himself as an international, genre-busting superstar in the process, selling more than 56 million singles worldwide. Flo Rida brought his experiences traveling the globe to his third album, Only One Flo (Part 1), an envelope-pushing collection of party-friendly anthems that showcased his signature stop-and-go flow, melodic sensibility, massive hooks, billion-dollar beats and his clever lyricism. Flo Rida's upcoming fourth album Wild Ones is set for release July 3.
Hedley
A 2012 MMVA UR Fave Nominee, Hedley returns to the MMVA stage to deliver what is sure to be an unforgettable performance. After forming in 2004, Hedley released their self-titled debut album and entered the stratosphere of bonafide Canadian pop superstars. Undoubtedly one of the biggest and brightest bands in Canada, Hedley's fourth album, Storms, delivers a raw and riveting, emotionally-complex record, which finds the Vancouver pop act more open and more driven than ever before. From sold-out arena shows cross-country to the group's eight MMVAs wins, two JUNO AWARD wins, and five MMVA nominations this year alone, Hedley's intense musicianship and penetrating lyrics have made them something like a wildly popular cult act. Few bands share such a close relationship with their fans or can match the group's illustrious achievements: three consecutive double-platinum certificates; one million downloads; and 12, #1 videos on the MuchMusic countdown. In 2006, Hedley made their triumphant MMVA entrance by exiting a police paddy wagon onto the red carpet in handcuffs.
Kelly Clarkson
Hitting the MMVA stage for the second time, Clarkson's powerful voice and presence solidifies the 2012 MMVAs as a must-see event. Since bursting onto the music scene 10 years ago, Kelly Clarkson has released five studio albums (Thankful, Breakaway, My December, All I Ever Wanted, Stronger), sold over 20 million albums worldwide, 10 million albums in the US and has had 10 singles in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. With two MMVA wins under her belt, she is also the recipient of two Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, one Country Music Association Award and 12 Billboard Music Awards. Clarkson's most recent effort, Stronger debuted Top 5 on both the Canadian and U.S. album charts. This Platinum album produced the smash singles, "Mr. Know It All", "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" and "Dark Side". To date over 500,000 digital singles from Stronger have been sold in Canada alone.
Ed Sheeran
Attending the MMVAs for the first time, this U.K. breakout artist is sure to raise the decibel level. Masterfully blending soulful vocals with organic folk introspection and irresistible hip-hop hooks, Sheeran is a genuine phenomenon. Inspired by such diverse artists as James Morrison, Damien Rice, and Jay-Z, the gifted tunesmith first made waves with his unique style and affecting songs. A prolific writer and performer, Sheeran played constantly, including over 300 gigs in 2009 alone, while also recording and self-releasing five independent EPs. He also became a YouTube favorite, with the loop-driven "You Need Me, I Don't Need You," drawing over 5 million views and counting. His YouTube channel now boasts over 100 million video views. His major label debut single, "The A Team," arrived in June 2011 and instantly proved to be a sensation, entering among the Top 3 on the U.K. Singles Chart. The track spent 11 consecutive weeks in the U.K. Top 10, making history as 2011's highest charting, biggest selling debut single. In early 2012, Ed won a pair of Top 2011 Brit Awards - including Best Male Artist and Best Breakthrough Artist, and this past spring, Sheeran was named VH1's "You Oughta Know" artist on the rise for the month of May. With recent performances of his blockbuster single "The A Team" on CONAN, LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON and LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY, Ed is the next UK artist to watch. The North American release of '+' is set for June 12.
For the third year in a row, the MMVAs are simulcast live in the U.S. on Fuse, the national music television network of The Madison Square Garden Company.
