PALO ALTO, Calif. and TORONTO, Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Flybits, Inc., the pioneer in context-aware computing, today announced significant increases in mobile engagement from the launch of the David Foster Foundation's (DFF) Gala app powered by Flybits. More than 30 percent of Gala attendees downloaded the context-aware app resulting in more than 4,600 app views.
Flybits is the David Foster Foundation's Miracle Gala & Concert Digital Innovation Partner, and together the two organizations delivered an unparalleled mobile experience to the nearly 1,000 attendees at this year's star-studded gala, which raised $6.5 million. The app allows the David Foster Foundation to provide personalized, timely and relevant information to better engage with supporters before, during, and after this important fundraising event.
"We wanted to bring in a mobile component to our David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala & Concert this year. That's why we partnered up with Flybits to develop an interactive and engaging social experience for the event," said Michael Ravenhill, chief executive officer, David Foster Foundation. "We were looking for a more effective way to interact and engage with our guests while enhancing their overall experience. This app does just that – it gave our guests a behind-the-scenes look, in real time, at one of the biggest fundraising events in Canada."
Using Flybits' unique context-as-a-service solution radically simplifies the process of building, editing and managing context-aware mobile apps. A developer can enable an iOS or Android app with Flybits in 15 minutes, begin adding contextual elements to deliver a better, more customized mobile experience, and get precise app-level analytics.
The Flybits powered DFF Miracle Gala & Concert app enables users to receive and engage with timely, relevant, context-aware features including: red carpet highlights, live voting, artist bios and social media accounts, sharable images, direct car service options, auction items and more. In addition, guests used the app to access behind-the-scenes content around the evening's festivities as well as post-event opportunities to learn more about making a difference through the Foundation's Sponsor a Family campaign.
The Flybits visual Experience Studio interface enabled staffers at the event to manage and update the app in real-time, making for a very dynamic and up-to-the-minute experience in the app without any coding. All app changes were made backstage by the marketing team supporting the gala. Impromptu donations were shared live. Less than an hour after the red carpet, photos were made available to event patrons before being released to media, and artist information went live in the app the very moment they stepped on stage. The Flybits solution allowed David Foster Foundation to easily and quickly manage app behavior and content, accounting for the unpredictability of such a large-scale event.
"Flybits is proud to be David Foster Foundation's Miracle Gala & Concert Digital Innovation Partner," said Jerry Rudisin, chief executive officer, Flybits. "Most event-related mobile apps take a one-size-fits-all approach and offer a passive experience that requires users to manually configure and search for information. DFF's Gala app was a great showcase for the power of context and an opportunity for us to show how much more engaged users are when they are getting timely, relevant information that truly enhances the physical event experience."
