Nearly one million dollars in scholarships to be awarded
MONTREAL, Jan. 31, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Students who want to benefit from a Fondation Desjardins scholarship will have from January 31 to March 31 to apply. The program is open to Quebec and Ontario students in technical, vocational, college or university programs.
Four areas of study are given priority: finance, cooperation and democratic life, expertise and knowledge development, and fields contributing to the next generation of Desjardins employees. There are also special scholarships for those studying actuarial science, mental health and geriatric medicine. Nearly one million dollars will be awarded in scholarships and prizes.
In 2012, the scholarship awards program became regionalized, giving satellite committees the task of selecting scholarship recipients in each of the 17 regions served by Desjardins.
"Education is one of the driving forces behind a strong, prosperous society and is vital to our economy's durability. In order for youth to contribute to the growth of a region, we need to give them the necessary means to grow as individuals and cultivate their knowledge. By granting scholarships, Fondation Desjardins wants to give students the help they need to persevere and achieve their dreams," says Louise-Marie Brousseau, Executive Director of Fondation Desjardins.
