Fondation Desjardins gains momentum and enhances its commitment to young people

Nearly one million dollars in scholarships will be awarded in 2012

MONTREAL, Jan. 30, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Fondation Desjardins presents its new scholarship and awards program that will grant nearly $1 million to students in Quebec and Ontario in 2012. As education is at the core of Desjardins's mission, the Fondation, in partnership with the regions, will award scholarships at every educational level: college, university, and professional and technical programs. Four areas of study will be given priority: finance, cooperation and democratic life, development of expertise and knowledge, and Desjardins careers. Depending on the educational level, scholarship amounts can reach $20,000.

Fondation Desjardins strongly believes in the importance of developing expertise and knowledge in the regions, to ensure the sustainability of regional industry and help meet demand for the next generation of workers. Defining regional needs and selecting the winners will thus be carried out by a regional committee made up of the regions' representatives and leaders.
