Close to $100,000 will be donated to local charities
MONTREAL, Aug. 29, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Fondation Desjardins invites all volunteers who serve in their communities everyday, to submit their nomination for the Fondation Desjardins Prize, Commitment to Volunteer Work. This prize is Desjardins Group's way of recognizing its volunteer officers, employees and members in Quebec and Ontario for their commitment to working with charitable organizations.
Nominations must be submitted on the Fondation website by October 12, 2012. The selected volunteers will each receive $1,000 to be donated to the charitable organization they support.
Fondation Desjardins believes that volunteering is a pillar of sustainable prosperity and that it contributes to regional development, therefore candidates will be selected by a committee in each region. Then at the provincial level, six candidates will be selected from among the regional winners and each will receive $5,000 for the cause they support. Thanks to this group of devoted volunteers, prizes of close to $100,000 will be handed out to some 60 Quebec -and Ontario- based charitable organizations.
"Volunteer work is what drives a strong and prosperous society," said Louise-Marie Brousseau, executive director of Fondation Desjardins. "The time and energy volunteers devote to a cause and its organization helps to improve the entire community's quality of life. That's why Fondation Desjardins wants to pay special tribute to these people, both regionally and provincially." To view the video clip (in french only), visit the Desjardins Group Newsroom.
