GATINEAU, QC, May 9, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull-Aylmer, announced that the Fondation pour les Aînés de l'Outaouais (website in French only) has been granted $4,007 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to renovate its community centre, the "Cabane en bois rond."
Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects such as the one by the Fondation pour les Aînés de l'Outaouais, which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.
Created in 1983, the Fondation pour les Aînés de l'Outaouais is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a place where seniors and organizations working with this clientele can get together. The community centre is a unique gathering place, graced with reception halls that can accommodate up to 160 people for a variety of activities (weddings, family functions, business meetings and so on).
The funding awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will enable the organization to replace the windows in one of the community halls to make the Cabane en bois rond more comfortable and reduce energy costs.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
