Fonds de solidarité FTQ Will Contribute $2 to the Literacy Foundation for Each Shareholder Who Votes at the Annual General Meeting Français
MONTRÉAL, Aug. 21, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - In order to encourage its 667,417 shareholders to participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Fonds de solidarité FTQ will contribute $2 to the Literacy Foundation for each shareholder who exercises their right to vote. On the occasion of the Fonds' 35th anniversary, the AGM will be held in Québec City this year, on September 29, at 2:00 p.m.
"By voting at the AGM, the shareholders of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ will accomplish two things at once: they will elect the majority of the members of the Fonds' board of directors while at the same time supporting the vital work of the Literacy Foundation," said Gaétan Morin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fonds. "We are constantly striving to create and protect quality jobs for Quebecers. We're teaming up again with the Foundation in an effort to eradicate illiteracy, which is an obstacle to employability."
"The Literacy Foundation works day in and day out to eliminate illiteracy in Québec and thanks to proactive partners like the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, we will achieve this ambitious goal," said the Foundation's president, André Huberdeau.
It will be recalled that in February, the two organizations joined forces to tackle the challenges of employability and illiteracy at the first-ever symposium called Alpha-Réussite, relevons les défis de l'employabilité.
It's easy to vote!
Fonds shareholders can vote in person at the meeting, by mail, telephone or online. Detailed instructions are included with the Notice of Meeting, which was recently sent. Shareholders can also appoint another person to vote on their behalf.
All holders of record of whole Class "A" - Series 1 and/or Series 2 shares on August 24, 2018, 5:00 p.m. are eligible to vote.
Shareholders are invited to elect 11 of the 19 directors who will serve on the board of directors. Four directors will be elected from among the candidates selected following a public call for nominations, and seven qualifying as independent candidates will have been recommended by the Ethics Governance Committee.
AST Trust Company (Canada), the company responsible for compiling the votes, will only provide the Fonds with the final voting results, including the number of shareholders who voted. No identifying information will be provided, thus ensuring the confidentiality of the votes.
